September 2007
2:07 AM 9/30/2007 A lot more progress is being made on the GS5 Revised mod. Most of the dialogs are done and I started working on spells. Some of the spells I will have to redo from scratch, others had minor errors in coding. Also, I'm happy to say that I played the Order Quest and won quite nicely. While I was playing, I was on the look out for one bug that causes your army to disappear after conquering it. Strangely enough, I didn't run into that bug and kept going. I think there may have only been one encounter that I didn't clear in the quest. But anyways, I'd say over all I'm about 50-60% done with the GS5R. And this is pretty much going completely from scratch! Though I must admit I've been using data from the current GS5 update as much as I can. Any data I use from the GS5 I check thoroughly. This is it for September news... or is it? 11:12 PM 9/25/2007 I'm happy to say that a lot of progress has been made on the GS5R. At this point I can definitely say it will be finished before the end of the year. 5:12 PM 9/22/2007 I am considering closing down the GS5, as is now, and starting fresh to work towards recreating it. This would be a GS5R, R for Revised. This will be a significan project and will take lots of time. All coding changes and updates will take place one at a time, to ensure a bug-free mod on all levels. Before I work on the GS5R mod, I will update the GS5 a few more times. The GS5R mod may even use a modified pic.mpq archive, different from how the pic5.mpq is now. I will anticipate a GS5R release in later this year. I cannot give a solid ETA, because my time to work on it may become limited in the future. I can say there will be days where I will make enormous progress, where other days I will make very little. The GS5 will come to a close after a few more updates fixing key issues. Further updates may occur if bugs are reported. 3:17 PM 9/16/2007 Artifact, Spell and Unit information pages updated to reflect the current update of the GS5. An update was just made yesterday containing many changes, including adding the barter values of units in the unit information panels. This is a significant update. 7:21 PM 9/6/2007 Hello everyone. I have just recently added a batch file to the GS5 download that will automatically remove your existing gs.mpq and rename the gs5.mpq to gs.mpq. This is a small step for me in the greater direction of learning how to use installers. So the next time you download a GS5 Update, you will see UpdateGS5.bat in the archive. Remember that it automatically deletes the existing GS.mpq and renames GS5.mpq to GS.mpq. This batch file must be in your Sierra/LOMSE directory, the same place you should find lomse.exe and you must also have gs5.mpq there as well. This batch file simply does the renaming process for you. Finally (and although late), I have updated the faith of the month.
